Motor Efficiency Calculator
Savings Result from Using A More Efficient Motor
Three ways to reduce your power bill for electric motors:
1) Use the correct size motor. Motors are most efficient when running
at 60% of their rated capacity and higher. They are very inefficient
when running below 50% capacity.
2) Switch to an adjustable speed drive. The frequency and voltage
of the alternating current powering the motor is varied, matching
the speed of the motor to the load requirement. This will reduce
the motor's energy consumption and improve the system power factor.
3) One of the best ways to save money on motor energy use is to
switch to a more efficient motor. Newer designs of energy efficient
motors will save you money, and typically cost about $1,000 more
than a standard efficiency motor. Although premium efficiency motors
usually have about a 1% better efficiency, the energy savings will
result in a payback period that is typically less than 18 months.

by switching to an energy efficient motor.
